“People Don’t Realize I’m Giving Up A Part Of My Soul”
When a young woman facing an unplanned pregnancy reached out for help, she found more than a placement agency. She found people at SOFA who truly cared and walked with her through one of the hardest seasons of her life.
Working long hours with little family support, she still chose life through adoption, knowing she herself had once been adopted. It was a difficult, faith-filled decision. “People don’t realize I’m giving up a part of my soul to entrust my child to people I don’t even know,” she said.
Through her meetings with our SOFA team, she found strength and hope. Week after week, she shared her fears and her dreams for her child, discovering the courage to make the choice her heart knew was right. 3 days before Valentine's Day, she gave birth. She chose Valentine's Day as the day to lovingly place her child with her adoptive parents, sharing, “I want my child to always know on Valentine’s Day how much I love her.”
Joel and Emily, the adoptive couple, prayed for her, sent photos of the nursery, and honored the name she had chosen for the baby. “God, give her peace,” they prayed. “This isn’t about us.”
