Eric and Magalie

We are so excited to get to know you and your story and be able to share it in whatever ways that we can. We have both felt called to adopt for many years now and believe that this is a beautiful picture of the Gospel. We feel it would be a huge gift to grow our family through adoption.

We were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend and I was instantly attracted to her kind and compassionate heart and beauty. We dated long distance for most of the first year and then spent a year engaged before getting married. We make a point to schedule at least monthly date nights and make sure to have time to chat about our day without distractions. We also go away together without kids at least once a year for a long weekend. Shared dreams for our future include having a family who knows and loves the Lord and cares for each other well. We hope to have a family who is focused on being present instead of addicted to technology and a family who prioritizes rest and celebration.

Hi, I’m Magalie.

I clean when I’m stressed. I love going on long walks outside in the fresh air and sunshine. My favorite day of the week is Saturday—we practice the “Sabbath” on Saturdays as a family and prioritize rest, family time, and spending time with God’s word. I love reading fiction, particularly mysteries. As of last year I am currently a full-time stay-at-home mom. Prior to that, I taught special needs preschool for 8 years. I chose that occupation because I have always loved young kids and also really enjoy the research aspect behind early intervention. I also love decorating (show home!).

What Magalie Loves About Her Husband:

  • His love for Jesus

  • How he makes a point to lead our family in the Lord

  • His work ethic

  • His passion for community and pouring into friendships

  • His intentionality to be present with our daughters

  • His passion for fitness and being healthy

  • That he cooks

  • He keeps a list in his phone of people he needs to see so he can pray for them

  • How he makes it a priority to still date me

  • He is always willing to help with household chores

Hi, I’m Eric.

I enjoy staying physically fit and doing so with close friends through CrossFit; it is a way to clear my mind and have fun. I love sitting around a fire with good friends and trading stories and learning about them. Deep friendships and community is vitally important to me. I enjoy reading books and experiencing new stories—some of my favorite authors are Stephen King, Brandon Sanderson. The early morning is my time to enjoy account details and start the day off in the quiet before getting with Addie. I enjoy working and adding value by helping others in my job as well as constantly learning new things. Some fun facts about me are that my favorite TV show is Lost. I love to vacation at Lake Tahoe, wake surf, and travel to new places.

Meet Our Family:

Addie is almost five. She is very complementary to others and very social. She is a deep thinker, creative, loves books & crafts, building with blocks, and riding her scooter!

Eliza is almost three and is silly, spunky, athletic and snuggly. She loves riding her scooter and dancing!

Our faith defines who we are as a couple and a family and dictates the decisions everything from our finances to our calendars. We make the rhythms of our day to day lives. We are intentional about time with God individually and together as a family and committed to being fully invested in community and friendship with others who share our faith as well as engaging and loving those who do not.

As a family we love:

  1. Traveling – we vacation in Lake Tahoe, NV every summer with friends and stay in a cabin

  2. Hosting BBQs every summer with friends. Eric’s parents also live in Napa, CA, half the year so we visit them a few times a year

  3. We love being outdoors and going on family walks everyday and playing outside

  4. We attend church together every Sunday

  5. We host a small group in our home 3x per month

  6. We have a family movie night every weekend and have enjoyed introducing our girls to classic Disney movies. Our girls also love watching the shows Franklin, Little Bear, Kitties, or Paw Patrol

  7. Eric and I both love to read fiction and are excited to introduce our girls to different genres as they get older such as Magic Treehouse, Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, etc.

Our family will never replace you more than just once we are embarking on this adventure together and learn to embrace each new child and birth family and embrace the new roots and backgrounds. We will have new challenges and new joys as well as a deeper experience of God’s love and provision.

Our Friends and Community:

The people we spend the most time with is our church community as we have the most important things in common with them and have committed to live life in community together. Specifically we spend a lot of time with Jeremy, Crista, Lena, Maya and Josh, Ashley, Nora, Mila, Sophia who we see at least once every month, but typically about three times. This is truly one of the things we look most forward to in our calendar. We also spend lots of time with our neighbors who have been such a gift to us and our children and our families who are nearby.

We moved to be in the same community as our church. We love how our house is open concept and has tall ceilings and a playroom for our girls. We love the view of trees and open fields from our backyard and amazing sunset views at night. We know many of our neighbors and feel very fortunate to have so many kids on our street for our girls to grow up with. We have a community pool close by, great school district, very diverse community, and lots of sports and activities through the parks and recreation in our area.

What Adoption Means to Us:

We have a few close friends who have adopted children which is part of the reason why we have always felt so passionate about it ourselves. We have been able to see them navigate the process and love their child and their child’s birth parents in a way that is glorifying to God. Our closest and best friends have adopted two children and we have been there alongside them for both. They would both say that their children are such a gift and that the process and who they are defines them as a family.

You are making the most difficult and most brave decision of your life and we are praying for you. We would like an open adoption and plan to talk about you and the whole adoption with your child from the very beginning.

We are so excited to get to know you and your story and be able to share it in whatever ways that we can!
