A Birth Mother is a loving, selfless mom who put her child's needs in front of her own and made the decision to place her child with his/her adoptive parents. Family is very important to her. Marriage is too. Providing a father for her child is a top priority. And, she wants the very best for her child and her child's family.
Here are 10 Simple Ways to Show A Birth Mother How Much You Care:
1. Remember her the day before Mother's Day, which is Birth Mother's Day, this Saturday, May 7, 2022. Send her an email. If you don't have contact, send a letter and some recent photographs to your adoption agency for her.
2. Lift her up in prayer with your family on Saturday.
3. Tell your child what it was like when you met her. If you haven't met her, tell your child what you would like to say if you had that opportunity.
4. Tell your child how you feel about her.
5. Invite her to attend the 2022 Fireweed Retreat for Birth Moms (September 23-25, 2022 in Vermilion, Ohio)
6. If you aren't in touch or if she isn't ready to attend a retreat, make a donation to sponsor someone else to attend.
7. Show your child photos of his/her birth mom.
8. Know that she is thinking about you and wants the very best for your family.
9. If a milestone birthday is coming up this year (16th, 18th, 21st), know that these are especially hard for her. Send her flowers if you can, or write a card to her. If your adoption is closed, send that to the agency to place in her file, or keep it in a safe place so that maybe one day, you can show it to her.
10. If you send communication to her and haven't gotten a response for some time, please know that she will never forget and she is working hard and doing her best to move forward and achieve her dreams, because she wants to be a healthy, happy birth mom for your child.
