What is Orphan Sunday?
On Orphan Sunday, churches across America and beyond celebrate the love of the God who “places
the lonely in families” (Psalm 68:6) and calls us to do the same. Ultimately, Orphan Sunday seeks to make the Gospel visible as Christians explore and respond to God’s heart for the orphan in adoption,
foster care, and global orphan ministry.
The National Orphan Sunday will be on November 6, 2011. Would your church consider preaching about defending the cause of the fatherless orphans on that designated Sunday? More resources, information, ideas and resources for local events, from posters and bulletin inserts to videos, study guides, how to involve youth groups and sermon notes are available on www.orphansunday.org . For right now, I just ask that you pass along the information to your pastor, colleagues, friends and family and please save the date: November 6, 2011.
Third Day Shines Spotlight On Adoption In New Video
Drawing on real-life experiences near to the hearts of its members and extended family of friends, GRAMMY, AMA and Dove Award winning, Atlanta-based rock band Third Day uses the issue of adoption as a metaphor for God’s love in the video for its latest single, “Children of God.”
“Children of God” is the second single from the band’s 11th studio project, MOVE, and features footage of families with adopted children, denoted by t-shirts emblazoned with the word “adopted.” The families (including that of Third Day’s lead vocalist Mac Powell, who recently welcomed adopted son Emmanuel and daughter Birdie) eventually all don the signature white t-shirts, revealing the idea that we’re all adopted into the family of God.
“Children of God,” released to AC radio on December 31, 2010, has accumulated an impressive 58 million cumulative radio impressions. The video was directed by Ry Cox, and can be seen on Third Day’s channel on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/thirddaychannel#p/u/0/V6jO7xhU_Pw.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 (New International Version)11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Please pray for the thousands of orphaned children all over the World and in the United States foster care system. These children are in need of loving, adoptive families in which to belong right now.
We also lift up every volunteer, mentor, pastor, teacher, friend, Congressman, advocate, director, and leader who is given the opportunity to convey the message of the loving choice of adoption.
James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
In response news from another agency of a disruption of a child from Russia and further news out of Russia, Spirit of Faith Adoptions wanted to remind all adoptive families of the difficulty when completed adoptions fall through. This is called a dissolution, which is sort of like a divorce. This is heartbreaking both for the adoptive family and, especially, for the adopted child. But please always remember that there are processes available if the adoption is experiencing difficulties. Please always contact the adoption agency that assisted you with your adoption. There are many agencies that want to help in such trying times, but if no call for help is made, how can there be assistance?
19 Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on Earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:19-20)
